Sir,
As a historian, I caution you on your generalization statement about age with the War Between the States soldier. Each regiment had a wide dispersion of ages (usually 18-45) depending on when the regiment was raised. Each soldier must be researched for age to make a statement like that. The statement that is loosely thrown out by people that Confederate regiments were filled by old men and boys is a fallacy with the exception of the last few companies that defended Richmond. If we go onto the re-enacting battlefield today we would clear a large portion of the field (especially on the Confederate side) because of the inaccurate age distribution.
The Sixth Georgia Cavalry was commanded by Colonel John R. Hart. This is the same Captain Hart that Colonel (then Captain) Nisbet, of "Four Years on the Firing Line" fame, was pretty critical on about his moral behavior when they were in the same regiment (Twenty-First Georgia Infantry) early in the war. What made his behavior even more shocking was that he (Hart) was a minister. He would form the Sixth Georgia Cavalry after he left the Twenty-First Georgia Infantry.
