Re: Aug. 18, 1864 Combat at Camp Creek

Sue,
Try looking in the area southwest of Atlanta. Jacob D. Cox in his book on the Atlanta Campaign states that on August 18, 1864 his division of the XXIII Corps, U.S. Army extended the right of the Union line southward to Camp Creek and rested between Utoy Creek and Camp Creek. The Camp Creek that he mentions runs from what is now the Atlanta airport westward to the Chattahoochee River. There is a modern road (Rt. 6) that runs west and northwest from the airport called Camp Creek Parkway.
