Re: Aug. 18, 1864 Combat at Camp Creek

I have been following this thread about the action at Camp Creek Ga. I am a Relic hunter who has many hours of walking the route of the raid in the above mentoined area. The raid started Sandtown (present day Fulton Ind . Blvd.&Boat Rock Rd. traveling to Suber Rd past Owl Rock Church south paralleling Enon Rd to Stonewall Tell Rd. to the A&WP R.R. just above Union City Ga. . There was picket fighting all along the route.I have evidence of a fierce skirmish at Camp Creek where the raid crossed . The Texans were posted on the ridge just south of the creek . It is now a golf course and not accesible. There were Rifle Pits on the ridge and many Spencer Carbine bullets were found along with .44 cal revolver bullets which was a weapon of choice of the Texans.
