Re: Cobb Guards, GA Infantry/22 BN GA Heavy Artill

I've got one for you. My 3X GGF Jordan Holland enlisted with the 22nd GA (Company H)at Abbeville Alabama in August of 1863. I am wondering how a middle aged man in Henry County Alabama came to enlist with a Georgia unit in Alabama. I know his compiled service record shows that he was stationed in Georgia until 1865, when the 22nd participated at Averasboro and Bentonville. It says they surrendered at Greensboro in late April 1865, but I can't find any official documentation to support it besides the compiled service record. I know that a Confederate parole for him has not surfaced anywhere in our family. So can anyone shed anymore light on this mysterious unit and how they recruited from Alabama?
