Re: Casualty list,Battle of Chickamauga

Yes, I have a copy of the after battle report done by Frambes where he mentions my gg uncle, and the other soldiers in the 59th OVI that were killed on 19 Sept. 1863. SUPPOSEDLY, ALL of those including my gg uncle are buried at Chattanooga National Cemetery..........However, NONE of them are in marked graves. They all supposedly came off the battlefield as "unknowns." Most of those originally buried on the battlefield were reinterred as unknowns at Chattanooga National. Only about 150 were "known." Frambes mentions my gg uncle and 5 others. Two of the five, Ellis & Woods BOTH have headstones near their homes in Ohio!? They could just be for the families to have had a place to visit, OR the data for Chattanooga National Cemetery is wrong!! Woods has a headstone in Woods Hill Cemetery in Clermont Co., OH while Ellis has a headstone in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Batavia, OH. Hmmmmmm I believe that they both have memorials on Find A Grave.
I created a memorial on FAG for my gg uncle because I am SURE that the J.M.F. at Chattanooga is John...I just need to find another piece of evidence to prove it! Renee
