Re: Comanches allied to Confederacy

I can't recall the exact source so, I hesitated to reply...but I have seen a reference to the Comanche at the Battle of Honey Springs. When I was interning at the OHS Archives in '04 I read an account written by one of Stand Watie's Cherokees stating that in the early part of the battle during the artillery barrage the Union Cherokees let out a gobble that could be heard above the cannon fire. He stated that this spooked the Comanches and they had to be restrained and kept from fleeing, and if I recall correctly he stated that they fought well in the main battle. I have not done any research to verify that the events occurred as written in this after action reminiscence.
