Tom, H. Riley (Houston Riley) is in the Compiled Service Records of the 3rd KY Infantry microfilm role 319-94 He is listed as a Private, age 22, 50 miles from rendezous at Camp Boone, Tennessee, enlisted July 18, 1861 for 3 years or the war. On roll dated (RD) Oct 1, 1861-Jan. 1, 1862 listed as absent sick in hospital in Bowling Green, KY. (RD) Sep 30, 1862-Jan 1, 1863 absent sick in hospital (RD) March 1, 1863-July 1, 1863 absent on duty in hospital at ? Station. (RD)July-Aug 1863 present (RD) Sep-Oct 1863 present (RD)Nov-Dec 1863 absent detailed as teamster with supply train (RD) March-April 1864 absent on detached duty with Gen. Loring's Division supply train. (RD)May-June 1864 present entitiled to pay for private horse since march 11, 1864. (RD)Houston Riley appears on a Register of Prisoners of War at the Dept. of the Cumberland captured at Spring Hill, Tennessee Dec. 18, 1864 forwarded to Louisville, Ky. Jan. 27, 1865. Appears on a receipt for roll of clothing for April 2, 1863 date of issue April 10, 1863. Signed the following: H. Riley in Capt. McGoodwin's Co. C, 3rd Ky. Regt. was enlisted at Camp Boone, Tenn. by Lt. McCall to serve for 3 years. Said Riley was born in Jackson County, Tennessee is twenty-two? years of age, 5 feet and eleven inches high, fair complexion, blue eyes, dark hair and by occupation when enlisted a farmer? Tom the ?? are mine as it was hard to read. Houston's brother J.W. was also born in Jackson County. I have a photograph of one of them but do not know which one.
