*a copy from online of a Confederate Company Muster Roll for my ancestor, Joe Short - it says Co. G, 3rd Reg. Ky Cav. with a note at the bottom that says "This company was also known as Co. G, 3 Regiment Ky Inf. (Mtd)" Enlisted April 27, 1864 in Benton, KY. His tombstone says Mtd. Inf. - So is it proper to say he was Cav. or Inf.?
I have 3 ancestors that were in Co. G, 3rd KY - I am trying to put together histories of each of them based on their service records - which, if any, battles they were in. But I haven't been able to find exact information on the troop - if they merged with another, etc..??
*I also have William Franklin Edwards - CSA - Co. G 3rd Regiment, Kentucky Mounted Infantry - In: Pvt Out: Sgt
Enlisted: Camp Boone, TN 1861.
*Also John Wilson Feezor was in the same troop - however I have never found proper records for his service because it seems they have mixed his records with that of a family member of his (G.W. Feezor). I have the pension application information from his widow. The witness, T.H. Hall, says he was in the same company and he refers to it as "Co. G, 3rd Ky Regiment Forrest's Cavalry"
