I found in John D. Preston's book "The Civil War in the Big Sandy Valley" that these two were indeed killed in the "Raid on Paintsville" in 1864. His research shows it was from an old newspaper. I highly recommend this book for lots of info from that area during the Civil War years. So much research went into it that gives the rest of us a central place to examine the goings on of the time.
