I talked to Dale Genius this afternoon - and the winner is, Robert Wilton Bringhurst. He was, among other things, a Commissioner of Streets and Parks in Alexandria, and donated the land on which the field was built. I was also told by a man on the present-day parks commission that if land is ever diverted from its use for recreation and green space, ownership will revert to the Bringhurst descendants.
