I have read with interest all the postings in this thread. I would like to hear more about Stand Watie's Regiments. I am researching all Wigginton men (any spelling, currenly numbers approx 140 men) who served in the Civil War. Early on in my research, I was amazed to come across reference to a James Wigginton who served with Stand Watie. He enrolled on 11/13/62 at Ft. Davis and was severely wounded in the mouth in a skirmish near Ft. Gibson on May 20th (63?). From others, I have been told that there may have been several Wigginton men who served with Watie. One of these men reportedly was a surgeon with the regiment. I have seen references stating that this was James and others saying this was a John. Any information regarding any of this is deeply appreciated!!
