Tim: You will come to realize, as I have after several years, that this message board is not really about St. Louis circa 1860 and the immigrants who fought to save the Union. That is perhaps why you have received no replies to your post. As far as I have been able to learn, no cavalry were involved in the "Camp Jackson Affair" as some call the events of 10 May 1861. It was the five Missouri Volunteer Infantry Regiments (mostly immigrants), under General Lyon's command, who were involved, and I am willing to be corrected by authenticated documentation to the contrary.
