That very well explains why I wrote that this message board is not about St. Louis in the Civil War, especially not about those volunteers who rose to President Lincoln's call to quell the Southern Rebellion which was started by the rebel bombardment of Ft. Sumpter well before any of the events that subsequently occurred in St. Louis. The reference to "scheming" of Blair and Lyon is revisionist banter. Thank God for the St. Louis volunteers and Blair and Lyon! Blair held Lincoln's order to remove Harney until Blair had more than enough proof of Harney's failure to discharge his sworn duty to protect the Union.
