WOW, I'm amazed at all the info you've provided me.
Not only on the history of guerrilla activity in north-central MO, but to add to my personal knowledge on my g-g-grandfather.
I'm impressed and very appreciative. Thanks so much to you and all the other contributors.

Of course, the irony comes back to my original question that got all this started. =)
(1) I'm still not sure if there was a hanging in Macon in the Fall of 1864.
(2) If so, I still don't know who it was.
(3) and, if there was a hanging - I don't know if it corresponds to the time William was here.
