The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Ha! Between the maternal and paternal side of the family, my sons have eight ancestral grandfathers and numerous uncles who fought on the side of the CSA. Not a Yankee among them.
I do confess a certain ignorance about Missouri and Arkansas in the war, but I am learning. I had heard of Anderson, Quantrill, Lane, the James gang, etc. but had no idea how bitter the conflict was nor how long it lasted.
I sent an article on Emily Weaver, the 16 yr. old from Batesville who was picked up in St. Louis for spying while "lurking about Missouri,"tried and sentenced to death by hanging. Rosecrans dropped it after she escaped. One of my friends owns her papers, and we have submitted an article and pictures to the UDC Magazine on the story. I guess it will come out in the TX or MO issue. The other letters that I mentioned come from the Emily collection.
I will email you. Thanks for your time and help!
