26th NCO uniforms/weapons

I just found out that my great great grandfather, John Oliver Jinkins (the confederacy misspelled it "Jenkins"), was a 3rd sergeant in Co. G, 26th Mississippi Infantry. As a re-enactor and Sons of Confederate Veterans member, I am trying to duplicate what he wore and carried. There are two schools of thought on NCOs of the 26th. One is that they carried the Confederate (1840) NCO saber and 1858 Remington New Army .44. The other is that they carried the 2-band Enfield with bayonet and no sword or sidearm. Does anyone have any evidence or documentation about this? Also, it seems that they wore the Columbus Depot uniforms, but I need to know what buttons they used (I've been told script "I" buttons and wooden "dish" buttons, but what about the brass "Mississippi" buttons?). Also, which type of belt buckle did they use- the CS, the Mississippi eagle, or the Texas/Mississippi star? Basically, I need any and all info regarding uniforms, weapons, and equipment. Since my ancestor spent the whole war in the 26th (except for a brief stint with the 32nd after he evaded capture at Fort Donelson, TN), I am trying to figure out as much about him in the unit as possible.
