I appreciate your contribution. A letter from a North Carolina regiment mentions that the Mississippians lost 8 killed and 40 wounded without firing a shot. As the brigade crested the hill overlooking the railroad the union artillery had them in a crossfire. Fortunately for the 55th, their end of the battleline (rightmost regiment) was sheltered by some woods.
