"These mixed raced indians had the full rights of white men, they could claim it through their fathers."

That's the quagmire in a nutshell. Very early on, many of the English and Scots men 'married' Indian women. Many of those children went on to become leaders in both of their cultures. William Weatherford is only one example. Alexander McGillivary is another. Many of the daughters of these unions were accepted as well. There were 'social classes' in all areas North and South depending on family line and later income. These were as exclusive as those considered 'racist' today. It seems like the time of the Great Removal is when the attitude toward the Indians went downhill. The White man helped turn tribe against tribe for their own purpose---land. The War of 1812 was a boon for many. They got Land in return for service. That land belonged to the Indians but was divied out like a lottery. We don't see much mention of the fact that there was gold in them thar hills in Georgia. Still is and that is why some wanted that land.
In the case of Black and White, the only recognition I can remember hearing of is the Quadroon's and in New Orleans that was a way of getting a life for many young women. Sad, but it's the way it was. They received a house and their expenses were paid. Some children born of those unions were educated and were free.
In all areas of society even today, there is exclusion, sometimes subtle, other times not. That is how life has always been and part of human nature.
