Re: Usage of term the "Confederacy"

That was the Supreme Court's reasoning after the war. They used the Articles of Confederation to strike down secession and said the U.S. Constitution was bound by that clause...a dead law. A law that was ignored when the Constitution was ratified. To ratify the U.S. Constitution was to secede from the Articles of Confederation, a perpetual union. Go figure.
