Potatoes, taters, Tomatoes, tamayders

Note: Canby was the first, and only, general killed during the Indian Wars.

Taylor commanded the Department of the Southwest, comprising East Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. This was the command Gen. Taylor surrendered to the enemy, in a convention with Gen. Canby, on the 4th May, 1865 at Magee Farm. David I would not consider the Dept of Southwest "no Confederate Army" as Lee or Grant for that matter did not bring their Armies with them to Appomatox so I do not understand your point?

Also this leaves the State of Alabama as home to the only original structure which saw the surrender agreement of a major Confederate Army.

I think we may have discussed this previosuly, but I was born and raised in Eight Mile and have family scattered between Citronelle, Creola, Saraland and Kushla, been to Magee Farm many many times, used to pick plums and pomegranates before getting chased off. First grade school teacher at Eight Mile was a STURTEVANT.

Taylor quote: "My Confederacy I sat by its cradle and followed its hearse."
