There were at least three more surrenders by generals of other Southern armies before the war ended in May, more than a month after Lee and Grant's meeting at Appomattox. On, April 9, General Robert E. Lee had surrendered the Army of Northern Va. to U.S. Grant at Appomattox Courthouse, V. CSA General Joseph E. Johnston surrendered his Army of Tennessee forces to General William T. Sherman at Bennett House near Durham Station, N.C. on April 26. And on May 4, 1865, after working out details at Magee Farmhouse, General Richard Taylor surrendered his army to General E.R.S. Canby.

From report:

Magee Farm, it's here that Confederate General Richard Taylor (Zachary's son) and an aide arrived on a railroad pump car to meet with Union General E.R.S. Canby. Canby had 1,800 soldiers and a military band standing by. The two men met in Magee's living room, talked for less than a half hour, then solemnized the occasion with Champagne, dinner in the small dining room - and acceptance of Taylor's surrender. The band played Dixie and Hail Columbia. It was said later that "the sun set on the Confederacy forever that day."
