Somerset is indeed in the southwest corner of England,untill major road building in the 1970's it was fairly remote.
Like many of my genaration I grew up on a diet of Western movies some of which mentioned the civil war ,the confederates allways reminded me of the folks here rural people ,farm boys,I am not sure if this is realy correct or just a Hollywood image.
Having left school early with no qualifications I started to research things as a hobby and the American west brought me to the WBTS.I soon saw that the little I had been taught about the war and it causes was more than likely wrong.When researching family history the finding of Confederate relitives has greatly increased my interest.
