The differences came from sectionalism. In the North you had Factory/Banker type folk who believed progress was constantly changing things. The South you had farmers and artisians. The First group employed other people to do their work. The latter did his own work on his own time, except the slave owners. The Northener was for progress, the Southerner status quo.
These differences are what caused the War for Southern Independence.
In other words, they didn't like us and we didn't like them. A fight had to happen.
