"The Unionists called the WBTS the War of the Rebellion because it was politically correct, not for being legally or morally correct"
Joe, I have thought for quite a while that the Unionists called the WBTS the War of Rebellion because that allowed the Feds to invoke Suspension of the Writ of Habeas Corpus per Article I Section 9 and undertake to do other nefarious deeds in the interests of "public Safety" - not to mention what is implied in the I/9 by "or invasion."
In short, by invoking I/9 language, Constitutional limits on Congress were weakened, if not ignored by using the word "Rebellion" - a pure Lincolnesque tactic to render invasion Constitutionally permissable - i.e., a bit more than simply being politically correct.
What think you, Joe?
