I will say, Yes, because we don't know how it would have turned out. We do know how it has turned out and other than learning of the attrocities, no one is worse for the wear.
I don't wish for it to have been different, for these reasons. But I do wish that people would open their eyes and see who we have emulated as heros.
To give you two examples Sherman and Sheridan. Sheridan went through the Shenandoah Valley and not only burned Confederate sympathysers homes, he burned everyone out, Unionist and Confederate alike.

Last but not least both of them attacked the American Indians and attempted genocide, citing manifest destiny and "a good Indian is a dead Indian".
We have lots of criminals we call heros,,,
