Joe, I had never thought much about when the mill was burned and the women moved to Marietta. My great uncle Frank was back in Georgia, recuperating from a serious bullet wound sufferd in May at Spottsylvania. He was captured in Roswell July 11, sent to Marietta, twelve miles west, and thence to Camp Douglas. His record does not say who captured him, nor under what circumstances. Since he was from Marietta, I don't know what he was doing in Roswell.

The square in Marietta still exists. The land was given to the city by the Glover family, early settlers, and founder of Glover Machine Works, which made train engines. My grandfather worked there, as did my dad, from the time he was 13 until he was about 20, and went to Atlantic Steel.

The Glovers said that if the city tried to use the square for any other purpose, title would revert to them, and they would raise corn there. They would have done it, I'm sure. Stan
