Yes, it was. It was beyond simply wrong, it was an act of unmitigated cruelty for no good reason. For anyone to suggest that, because it was during war, it had anything at all to do with some sort of military strategy is ... well, it's too anorexic to not be seen through. These were noncombatants, women (and children, for pete's sake) trying to make a living and survive. To ship them anywhere was to take away what little support from others they might have had. Whatever happened to them, I doubt it was a fairy-tale ending.
