Thanks, Jim. That al-Qaeda remark would have been hard to swallow, but I'm determined not to get emotionally vested in this ridiculous thread and respond in kind. That's why I posted in this thread to begin with. Emotional reactions from students of history over the foibles and tribulations of long-dead people and extinct governments is simply ludicrous.

It seems to me that if someone is bound and determined to get their dander up, they should get mad about traumatic events that happened in their own lifetime, to them personally or to someone they know personally. The Great Depression, Pearl Harbor, Vietnam. Lots of bad things have happened within the lifespan of people now living. Plenty of fuel for resentment for those who feel a need to be resentful about something.

Jim, I hope you and your town are well down the road to recovery after the hurricane.
