Yes, Jamie, like most of us I swore to protect and defend the Constitution of the UNITED STATES! And we pledge allegiance to the stars and stripes. That said, we can, on both sides, appreciate the sacrifices of our ancestors, also on both sides. I happened to mention to a real estate agent today that I was retired from the Navy. She said, "Thank you for your service." A simple but heartfelt show of gratitude. I told her it was nice to hear that every now and then, as it used to be rare. Whenever I see someone in uniform, be they military, firefighters, or police, I make it a point to thank them. Not too many years ago I met a Pearl Harbor survivor in a grocery store. I snapped to and saluted him. I thought he was going to cry; I almost did. When I was stationed in Cuba a Navy Lieutenant who had made the Bataan Death March retired, with all the honors we could provie. The Admiral saluted him! My point is we are all one country, and whatever happens, we'll get through it together. Stan
