By the way, I have been re-reading Bitterly Devided by David Williams and chapter three touches on what this thread is about. How anyone who disagreed with the leadership was treated, including women and children. It was disgraceful. If you have not read that book you should. Mostly Home Guard units that were made up of ruffians who did not have the stomach to serve in the front lines. Seems they would rather stay near home and terrorize women and children and old men to old to serve. I wonder if their ancestors are as proud of them as most of us here on this board are of our ancestors who served honorably whether in the northern army or the southern army.
