Free States need not Apply

Does anyone have any official documentation on whether Confederate law forbid admitting a free state into the Confederacy?

I found on article on the debate over the Confederate Constitution in Montgomery. South Carolina fire-eaters wanted resolutions admitted to the Constitution that stated....

1 Only slaveowners could vote.
2 Only slave states could be admitted
3 No three-fifths clause
4 No popular vote for president
5 Absolute Free Trade

All of which were shotdown and South Carolina was threatening to secede from the Confederacy if it did not get its way. But the Constitution was ratified by a vote of 114 to 16, defeating the fire-eaters. South Carolina, led by Rhett, added to their ratification that they did not recognize itself as bound to remain in the Confederacy if it should admit free states; and another calling for state convention in the event that any free state were ever admitted.

ex-Governor John H. Hammond said, "The Constitution has been adopted by an overwhelming majority AGAINST Rhett & Co., Slave Traders, Free Traders, Fire-eaters and extremists...and I suppose this is an end of them." He thought that, certainly, Rhett and his kind brought about secession, and he was delighted to see him repeatedly repudiated....[they were] "Restless, reckless, ambitious, selfish and fanatical as they were, I do not think they would have been bribed by the 30 or 30 thousand pieces of silver, and therefore they are not bound to hang themselves as Judas did."
