I can't imagine 20 years of it. My husbands GrandFather was Chief of Police here for many years. It was in the 30's and 40's. Back then they pretty much did it their way. From all I've read, he was well respected. He'd toss some drunks in the cell to sleep it off on Friday evenings and take their pay and give it to their wives. He captured some criminals wanted by the FBI and they made a radio program about it. I'm not too sure he'd be all that proud to see the insides of our courtrooms on the tv news as often as they are now.
