Having read both books, Lind wrote to praise Lincoln, not to bury him as DiLorenzo attempted to do. It's another reason why Lind's book is more effective as a critique of Lincoln. As a reviewer noted, "Michael Lind’s study of Lincoln illustrates the old saying, 'God protect me from my friends; from my enemies I can defend myself.'"
