I recently sent to Lee White historian at Chattanooga a copy of a handwritten document from General James F Culpepper describing Co. C positions during the battle. I know this paper was written by Culpepper as he was a member of the SC goup working towards forming the park. In this he describes where his Co. C was located on different days and even mentions number of artillery shots they fired. Culpepper was one of the former Soldiers that was asked to be a part of the South Carolina group putting info together for the park. This handwritten document by him was not signed because the first and last pages were missing. The Park told me they had very little from Culpeppers Battery and they did not have this document in their files. No doubt culpepper never sent this paper in to the committie. I also sent the Park a photo I made of his tin type in uniform along with my 2nd great Grandfather who was in Culpeppers Battery.
In a document by the South Carolina committe for The National Park this group mentioned they were very concerned how they as ex South Carolina soldiers would be accepted by the Federal people putting together the National Park in Chattanooga.
After their first meeting they wrote how suprised they were at how well they were treated.
