Re: Flag or standard for 3rd Tenn Mounted Infantry

Randy,

Pvt. James Gann, Co. H, 3rd Tennessee Infantry, died April 11, 1863 while in the Pest House (House of Pestulance/Small Pox Hospital).

He is recorded in the UDC burial records as GaMM and being in Co. K. Obviously, transcriptional errors. Buried in grave no. 1001 in Potters Field. This is now called the Confederate Rest section in the Vicsburg City Cemetery.

There should be a VA provided tombstone which was placed in the late 1970s. However, as the original Cyprus grave markers had long since disappeared, his stone would not represent his actual burial site. The stones placed in the 70s were arranged by state, thus, his marker is the the Tennessee section.
