Hi Jerold,

Thank you for the information. I was wondering if the Unassigned were part of Rock Island Confederates! I did know the 2nd and the 3rd were from Rock Island but have not been able to get a roster or more indepth information on the units and then I ran acrossed the Unassigned. I was told that he went west with one of the units and was one of the last ones to take the oath. Unless he is in the Unassigned I don't think he was unless he went in under a different name as so many did.

I have been able to tract him from Rutledge (where captured), Louisville to Rock Island...transfered on Dec. 27, 1863....up to April 9, 1864 and he had $3.00 on him. That he refused to take the oath in Louisville. He did not die in Rock Island. I also found more men from the 17th and the 23rd TN and even found some listed with the name...17/23rd!

Thank you again for confirming my hunch. If ever I am able to get into the roster......I'll let you know!

Thanks,
Nancy F.
23rd TN
