My gg grandfather's brother was captured at Chattanooga, Nov. 25th 1863 from the 32nd TN, and he enlisted on Oct. 15th,1864 in the US Volunteers at Rock Island. He was assigned to Company D, 3rd Regiment, US Volunteer Infantry, and was posted at Cottonwood Springs, Nebraska Territory. Unfortunately he never made it home, as he succumbed to typhoid fever within six weeks after his arrival. He is buried in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, NE, with many others from the frontier posts. I have both his Confederate and Union Army records.
