Hi Alan,

Yes, what I have found also in the prison records some were sent to ILL and ohio areas and then into units. The unassigned was new to me. Must have been like a "holding" unit and then assigned once enough made a company. What little I have found said they then were sent to Ft. Kearny. Jerold said his gggrandpa died and gave a cemetary. I haven't had a chance yet to check the findagrave.com site yet to see if maybe he is there or some of the others.

I have not checked yet but.....are you able to get military records from the site you frequently post when you are NOT related to the person(s) you are looking for? With all the HIPPA, I have not attempted yet to find out. Would they allow me to have records of the fifteen men I am looking for even though I am just researching the unit and these few men?

The prison records on line have been a wonderful break through!

Thanks Alan for all your help!
