We should have asked which Union regiment you meant by the 13th. The one usually referred to as the 13th was officially the 14th. (Bradford's) The men were normally from West Tennessee. This one was captured/annihilated almost at Fort Pillow. The official 13th is usually called the 12th and the captain was John K Miller. Most of the men in this unit were from east Tennessee.
