Re: West Tennessee Unionists
I'm sitting next to my files. Wiley Bishop died of typhoid at Andersonville on 8/24/64 and is buried in the National Cemetery there. The prison was at the height of its population (nearly 33,000) in August. Wiley was one of the 3,000 men who died that month as were 43 of his fellow 7th Tennesseans. I believe Bishop was a resident of the 15th district of Henderson County in the 1860 census. Hoping to have an updated monograph on the 7th out before the end of the year.
