Re: Capt. Marshall T.Polk, Polk's Tenn. Battery

For what it's worth, Marshall T. Polk was the newphew of President Polk.

He was educated at Alexandria Boarding School, Georgetown College, and the United States Military Academy, 1847-1848. He married Laura T. Wilson, Charlotte NC, Nov. 1, 1827.

Captain Polk was seriously wounded on April 6, 1862, losing a leg as a result of his injury. At Shiloh his battery included four six-pounder smoothbore guns and two twelve-pounder howitzers.
