In reply to the "arrest" warrant...It amounted to nothing. Col.Polk sent a letter to a "higher rank",...no doubt Gen. Pillow or Gen.Bragg and accussed them of cowardice.Sounds like he was also a very vocal person also......I have copied letters of him in Montgomery and Mobile,Feb."65" and one of the letters talks of a letter to Gen. Breckinridge,in Richmond and Sec. of War,thanking him for the early dismissal of the charges.I wish I had a copy of the letter that got him in trouble...he calls one a "dog" and the other party a "coward". No names are mentioned unfortunately. Does this remind you of another story ? Who else called Bragg a coward and a dog....Forrest maybe? Thank you for the arrest warrant info...frank
