Re: Capt. Marshall T.Polk, Polk's Tenn. Battery

Thank You George Martin for your info....time & effort. It is appreciated.........Confederate records are sketchy,to a certain degree,as we all know. The year 1864 is my hardest year to keep track of him.....I rely on his lettters to wife who was in Bolivar,TN. April "64" to Sept "64" Col. Polk was in the field. The letters I have put him at Okolona, Brices Crossroads and Tupelo where he writes wife "in command of 1st Miss. and Reynolds Battalion..? I have found over the years that letters are the best way of tracking a soldier and Confederate Veteran Magazine.....especially my grandfather. As I stated,I have letters of him in Montgomery and Mobile in late "64" Gen. Maury and Col. Polk were good friends as I can make out.Just for the record, after Shiloh, the remaining members of Polks Battery joined Carnes Battery. Thanks again George Martin ! butternut4662@dixie-net.com
