Re: honorable discharge--conscript act

As Darron said desertion would nullify his Honorable discharge, this would as well

John W. Darwin, Private, 4th Battalion*, Tennessee Cavalry, subscribed and swore allegiance to the United States at Nashville, Tennessee on February 10, 1864**, resident of Jackson County, Tennessee, Dark Complexion, Dark Hair, Hazel Eyes, 5' 6", this is the one and only card in his file.

If this is your ancestor, and I hope not, this would cancel out his Honorable service discharge. Anyone taking the Oath before April 9,1865 was not considered Honorable service, and not eligible for a pension.
