Re: Randal's Regiment of Texas Lancers

Randal's Regiment of Texas Lancers is better known as the 28th Texas Cavalry (dismounted). There are three Truits in Company A, Alfred M. Truit, Quartermaster, James W. Truit, age 16, Bugler, and Captain Levi M. Truit. According to M. Jane Johansson, the historian of the 28th Texas, Capt. Truit's company came from Shelby County, near the Texas-Louisiana border. There is quite a bit of material in Johansson's "Peculiar Honor: A History of the 28th Texas Cavalry 1862-1865."
