Mrs. Rochette, My GGF was Robert A. Nolan(d) who joined CPT James W. Throckmorton's mounted riflemen company in McKinney TX on June 22, 1861 for a 12 mo enlistment. The official records list this as the 3rd TX Cav, TST which was founded in Collin City under Col William C. Young. He served for two mo. 19 days and the unit was disbanded at ft Cobb on Aug.31, 1861. By the 12 of Sep the unit almost intact worked it's way back to McKinney and was activated as Company K, 6th Tx Cav Rgt, CSA commanded by Throckmorton.
Looking at the description of your book I did not see CPT Throckmorton ( Later a TX Governor) as one of the border CPT's. Am I missing something by not having the detail.
Of course I am always looking for more. I would definately like to know what my GGF did for that two and one half months.
