Re: Finding Captain Willke's company

Thanks! That's exactly what I needed. The diary is very interesting and hopefully will be available online soon at the Austin History Center. It describes the march to Brownsville, the attempt by the men to remove Lt. Franklin from command for failing to pay a promised $50 enlistment bonus and misappropriating a $150 contribution from an Austin women's club, the fighting in Matamoros, and an elaborate prank played on a soldier which involved convincing him that a women wanted to marry him using forged letters and a soldier dressing up in a wedding dress. There might be an article about this diary coming in the future as well.
