Thanks for your response. Possibly Georg Pfeiffer got to Brownsville during the period of the diary after enlisting in LaGrange on June 19, 1862. I have seen references to "The Big Guns of Fayette" but have never seen a copy. Not even the library in LaGrange has a copy. Private William Guehrs from Fayette County was one of the members of 5th Field (Creuzbaur's)Battery at the Battle of Calcasieu Pass on May 6, 1864. His actions were heroic in battle and he was sent home to Fayette County to recover from his wounds but died that fall. A few years ago he was honored with the "Confederate Medal of Honor." In 2002 I went to the ceremony dedicating a new monument in the Waldeck cemetery honoring him and other Confederate Veterans interred there.
