Pvt. John W.Cureton and Co.K, 25th Texas Cavalry was captured at Arkansas Post in January 1863. After the exchange the 25th Texas Cavalry was consolidated with the 17th, 18th and 24th Texas Cavalry (dismounted). These units were placed in Granbury's Brigade, Army of Tennessee. Granbury's Brigade fought major engagements at Chickamauga and Atlanta.
