However, in 1860, my William would only have been 15 years of age, since he was born in 1845 (confirmed, as I have been to his grave in Missouri). Do you suppose the other William was his father? If so, this would solve two problems for me, as I have been looking for William's parents for about a decade, but since William Henry Fleming, my great grandfather, was born in Ray County, Missouri, I never thought to look for his parents in Texas, which makes perfect sense, since William Henry's obit states that he went back to Texas (from Missouri) in order to serve under his old friend J.H. Harrison. William's first wife, Emma Mary Hamlin is also buried in Texas, supposedly somewhere around Sweetwater or Thorp Springs, but I have never been able to find her. William's second wife (m in Missouri) was Ladora Combs, who also died in Oklahoma and was returned to Missouri for burial. Funeral records indicate she's buried in Neosho IOOF, but she was nowhere to be found when I was there, and the cemetery registrar was out of town on bereavement purposes. There is also a William Fleming in Terry's Texas Rangers who was wounded and discharged in 1863, but I have often wondered if that was him too. Maybe he got well!
